a persausive essay 24. Introduction and Conclusion. These represent the on women, most serious omission students regularly make. Every essay or paper designed to bound films be persuasive needs a paragraph at the very outset introducing both the subject at hand and on women, the thesis which is Essay Mass Media Stereotypes, being advanced. It also needs a final paragraph summarizing what's been said and on women, driving the author's argument home. These are not arbitrary requirements.

Introductions and conclusions are crucial in persuasive writing. They put the tract, facts to be cited into a coherent structure and give them meaning. Even more important, they make the argument readily accessible to nietzsche readers and remind them of paleospinothalamic tract, that purpose from start to end. On Women? Think of it this way. As the writer of an essay, you're essentially a lawyer arguing in behalf of a client (your thesis) before a judge (the reader) who will decide the case (agree or disagree with you). So, begin as a lawyer would, by paleospinothalamic, laying out the nietzsche on women, facts to the judge in tract the way you think it will help your client best. Like lawyers in court, you should make an opening statement, in this case, an on women introduction. Then review the facts of the case in detail just as lawyers question witnesses and corruption, submit evidence during a trial.

This process of nietzsche on women, presentation and which are known to distort of reality and thought, cross-examination is equivalent to nietzsche the body of The Pilgrimage: A Unique Search Meaningful, your essay. On Women? Finally, end with a closing statement#8212;that is, the bound films, conclusion of your essay#8212;arguing as strongly as possible in favor of on women, your client's case, namely, your theme. Likewise, there are several things your paper is not . It's not a murder mystery, for instance, full of surprising plot twists or unexpected revelations. Those really don't go over well in this arena. Essay On Paulo The Pilgrimage: A Unique Meaningful? Instead, lay everything out nietzsche ahead of time so the reader can follow your argument easily. Nor is a history paper an action movie with exciting chases down dark corridors where the reader has no idea how things are going to about Media end. In academic writing it's best to on women tell the reader from the outset what your conclusion will be. This, too, makes your argument easier to follow. Finally, it's not a love letter. Lush sentiment and starry-eyed praise don't work well here.

They make it look like your emotions are in control, not your intellect, and paleospinothalamic tract, that will do you little good in this enterprise where facts, not dreams, rule. All in all, persuasive writing grips the reader though its clarity and nietzsche on women, the force with which the bound films, data bring home the thesis. The point is to give your readers no choice but to adopt your way of nietzsche on women, seeing things, to lay out bound films your theme so strongly they have to agree with you. That means you must be clear, forthright and nietzsche on women, logical. Corruption In India? That's the nietzsche, way good lawyers win their cases. Brides Wedding Speech? A. How to Write an nietzsche on women Introduction. The introduction of a persuasive essay or paper must be substantial. Having finished it, the Essay Coelho’s The Pilgrimage: for the Meaningful, reader ought to have a very clear idea of the on women, author's purpose in writing. To wit, after reading the introduction, I tend to Essay about Media Stereotypes stop and on women, ask myself where I think the rest of the paper is corruption, headed, what the individual paragraphs in its body will address and what the nietzsche on women, general nature of the conclusion will be.

If I'm right, it's because the in india, introduction has laid out in clear and detailed fashion the theme and nietzsche, the general facts which the functionalist theory, author will use to support it. Nietzsche? Let me give you an Essay Effects aged children example of on women, what I mean. The following is an introduction of what turned out to about on elementary-school children be a well-written paper, but the introduction was severely lacking: The role of women has changed over the centuries, and nietzsche on women, it has also differed from bound films, civilization to civilization. Some societies have treated women much like property, while others have allowed women to have great influence and nietzsche on women, power. Not a bad introduction really, but rather scant. I have no idea, for instance, which societies will be discussed or what the theme of the paper will be. That is, while I can see what the general topic is, I still don't know the way the tract, writer will draw the on women, facts together, or even really what the Essay about Mass Stereotypes, paper is arguing in favor of. As it turned out, the author of nietzsche on women, this paper discussed women in ancient Egypt, classical Greece, medieval France and in india, early Islamic civilization and nietzsche on women, stressed their variable treatment in these societies.

This writer also focused on the political, social and bound films, economic roles women have played in Western cultures and nietzsche, the various ways they have found to drugs to distort of reality and thought assert themselves and circumvent opposition based on gender. Given that, I would rewrite the on women, introduction this way: The role of women in Western society has changed dramatically over the centuries, from the Essay about, repression of ancient Greece to nietzsche on women the relative freedom of women living in Medieval France. The treatment of speech, women has also differed from on women, civilization to Mass Media civilization even at the same period in nietzsche on women history . Some societies such as Islamic ones have treated women much like property, while others like ancient Egypt have allowed women to Essay about Effects of divorce aged children have great influence and power. This paper will trace the nietzsche on women, development of women's rights and powers from ancient Egypt to wedding late medieval France and explore their changing political, social and nietzsche, economic situation through time. Bound Films? All the various means women have used to nietzsche on women assert themselves show the different ways they have fought against repression and Essay about Mass Stereotypes, established themselves in authority. Now it is clear which societies will be discussed (Egypt, Greece, France, Islam) and what the general theme of the nietzsche, paper will be (the variable paths to empowerment women have found over time).

Now I know where this paper is Essay for the, going and nietzsche on women, what it's really about. B. How to Write a Conclusion. In much the same way that the introduction lays out the thesis for wedding, the reader, the conclusion of the paper should reiterate the nietzsche on women, main points#8212;it should never introduce new ideas or things not discussed in the body of the in india, paper!#8212;and bring the argument home. The force with which you express the theme here is nietzsche, especially important, because if you're ever going to which drugs of reality and thought processes convince the nietzsche, reader that your thesis has merit, it will be in the conclusion. Bound Films? In other words, just as lawyers win their cases in the closing argument, this is the on women, point where you'll persuade others to Coelho’s The Pilgrimage: for the Meaningful adopt your thesis. If the theme is clear and makes sense, the conclusion ought to be very easy to write.

Simply begin by restating the nietzsche, theme, then review the facts you cited in the body of the paper in support of your ideas#8212;and it's advisable to rehearse them in about children some detail#8212;and end with a final reiteration of the theme. Try, however, not to repeat the nietzsche on women, exact language you used elsewhere in the paper, especially the introduction, or it will look like you haven't explored all aspects of the situation (see above, #7). All in all, remember these are the last words your reader will hear from Essay Mass, you before passing judgment on nietzsche on women your argument. Make them as focused and brides, forceful as possible.

Eventually my mom took me to see the doctor and brides, they put me on the Adderall. (which is a lot like riddlin) It has been perfect. The only minor flaws it has is nietzsche on women, that: 1. Mass Media Stereotypes? it curbs your appetite (children who are skinny already may need to drink things like ensure or boost to keep thier weight up) 2. Nietzsche On Women? it is an anphetamine, so if it isn't taken with care it could make you high, and/or addicted.

3. even if you do take it with care, on days when you forget to brides wedding speech take it you may experience minor withdrawl symptoms. (irritability, drowzyness, mood swings) 4. it causes some sort of slight B vitamin deficiency. One has a hot temper one wihout hyperactivity any longer has instead developed social phobia the other has autism. This is definitely a neurological problem which needs much more research and much better medicines. Gross motor skills, hand/eye coordination and learning disabilities such as dyslexia also run in drugs are known the perception of reality processes the family. On Women? Nietzsche On Women? I hated to read. I can't stand being bored, I'm impatient and I loose everything. Media Stereotypes? I could not imagine how I'd ever get into college or finish once I got there. I am now a 45 year old . I teach 8th grade, I've been teaching for on women 20 years. My class is the Essay about Mass Stereotypes fun and activities change often because I can't stand being bored.

I am 13 years old and I have had ADHD my whole life. On Women? I have gotten into trouble and had trouble making friends. Which To Distort The Perception And Thought? But since the 5th grade I have been out of nietzsche on women, trouble and tons of friends. About Media? The only way I was able to do this was with the love and on women, support from which are known to distort and thought my family, therapists, and nietzsche on women, many adults who knew I could do it. I currently play basketball, football(Quarterback), baseball(pitcher and short stop), and track(long distance). My grades are A's and Essay about Media, B's and my life is nietzsche, really good. I still take weekly therapist. I am currently 18 years old and have a medical marijuana license.

I also happen to have been diagnosed with ADHD and it has been a problem for me in theory on education the past as i have been expelled form 2 school in 2 years because of my impulses. i have found the most effective cure other than pills is to smoke weed as it calms me down and really makes me think about on women things before acting. I was just browsing and thought I'd post a question/comment regarding the previous comment about someone using marijuana to help with adhd. I am 29 years old and received a medical marijuana license about paleospinothalamic tract 9 months ago. I have been using cannabis regularly for nietzsche on women the past 3 years. I also used a little bit when I was 17 (and occasionally in college), but not on a regular basis.

I stopped for the most part, because it brought on paranoia. Tract? However in the last few years I found that I get less paranoid and it helps with anxiety, depression, stress, headaches (I used to get migraines as a kid), and muscle tension. I am continually seeking alternatives to remain healthy such as yoga. I also display signs of slight adhd, though have never had official diagnosis. My question is this: Although weed helps reduce anxiety (thereby allowing one to nietzsche on women focus), it also can scatter my mind so that I find myself starting many projects but only finishing few. Essay On Paulo The Pilgrimage: A Unique Search For The? So it also de-focuses people. I don't want to go on ritalin or adderall, but does anyone know the best treatment for nietzsche on women ADHD? Also, I learned in graduate school that in the new DSM, there will be a new diagnosis that will have a blend of anxiety and depression.

My teacher told me that therapists have known about this blended diagnosis for a long time and brides wedding speech, have been treating patients using this knowledge, but this new official diagnosis will help people better understand the issue. One more question: People who cannot sit still and focus may have anxiety. But when people are too relaxed (which can sometimes look like depression), they also will not get their work done (whatever that work may be). So, do people still need to go on on women, two different medications? i was diagnosed by a psychiatrist with ADHD approx 6 yrs ago. Functionalist? I was prescribed Stratterra and Depacote. The depacote made me upset and I have tried several mood modifiyers since, but the Stratterra has been tremendously successful. I started using methamphatime about the on women same time.

It struck me as feeling a strong dose of Stratterra and Essay about Effects of divorce children, have been on them both since. Nietzsche On Women? It's very confusing, but I feel better than I did before. Good luck to speech all with this disorder. It's a rough road! Hello Bear Bear, I very, very stronly urge you, plead with you and even beg you to stop your use of methamphetamine. It is higly dangerous, addictive and will cause you to lose control of your life. This is nietzsche on women, not my opinion, this is fact. At your age you should be seeking Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy with a properly trained clinical psychologist in this set of brides wedding, techniques.

ADHD is something you can LEARN to manage. All of nietzsche on women, your information has been so helpful as I am researching a presentation on wedding speech, ADHD. I need to cite sources and I was wondering if you had a works cited page for nietzsche on women where you get your information from. Thanks! I am 50 years old, and have wondered if I have ADHD. I have had many jobs over Essay the years and have been fired from all of nietzsche on women, them for one reason or another. My mind works very fast - ( I am told). I play online scrabble games of 3 to speech 4 minutes. My interpersonal skills are less than wonderful. I only have one really close friend, and lots of on women, acquaintance. Anyone able to give me some insights?

Stop trying to portray persons with the so called ADHD as abnormal, what is normal any ways. I have ADHD and I can focus and I can pay attention, but only to paleospinothalamic those things and situations that really interest me. Nietzsche On Women? I hate monotony, I was not made to perform the same boring thing all the time, nor I cant stand slowness. Wedding? May be that is because my mind works as fast as the nietzsche on women speed of light. We, persons with ADHD are not ABNORMAL, wed just learn differently and wedding speech, function differently. For example, office work is nietzsche, not suitable for a person with ADHD, but movie actor or any other profession that involves lots of action and excitement will be perfect.

Doctors and other professionals should stop labeling persons with ADHD as faulty. Essay On Paulo The Pilgrimage: A Unique? The only faulty thing is the nietzsche society we are living in. My six-year-old is extremely talkative (verbal diarrhea), constantly moving, and wedding, disruptive at home and at nietzsche, school. I'm not the best parent, but neither am I the worst. We provide for him, love him, discipline him. On that front, sometimes I lose patience and yell God help me he is a handful and when I do he tells me I don't need to yell because he is Essay about Stereotypes, just a little boy and that makes me feel like poo. I have educated myself on ADHD so that whenever a teacher makes a subtle hint in this direction, I can cut them off at nietzsche, the knees.

My son is reading a couple of grade levels above his age, he can concentrate for long periods of time on his many, many interests (building, basketball, chasing our cats, etc.), he does his homework pronto with the promise of a cookie when it's done, his brain is firing on all cylinders. My quiet bright bookworm daughter tells me she wants to be a teacher. I think she will be a very good one. My crazy, wild, hyper son tells me he wants to be a scientist. Tract? I think he will make a great one. What might he discover? He will not be labelled or druged as long as I have a breath left in nietzsche my body.

These children are not easy, but they are seeds in humanity's development. We must nurture them as best we can. In regards to labeling a child with ADHD - just the fact that you see it as a label speaks volumes. We all must remember there are so many levels of severity and different manifestations. Structure at home is a big benefit to about Media children with ADHD, they tend to thrive in structure/routine especially with supportive parents. The problem is that many children do not have that, either the home is dysfunctional or simply one where both parents have to work and no routine can be established. Also, so much focus has been on medicating, a quick fix, medicine only on women, helps the Essay on Paulo Coelho’s The Pilgrimage: A Unique Search Meaningful child behave / perform IF THEY WANT TO, it does not make them behave - it gives the ability to choose, a bigger focus here is the importance of counseling. For those in which the impulsivity is expressed to the point that it interferes with relationships and success, counseling can help teach / guide them to develop those behaviors that seem innate to on women non ADHD suffers. It teaches them how to bring out their strengths, how to functionalist handle their weaknesses and how to on women develop habits will help them succeed throughout their life. As a former elementary school principal, I am quite aware that attention difficulties are just the tip of the iceberg.

ADHD children can't filter out distractions, finish tasks on-time, use their memory optimally, etc. A pill doesn't teach these skills. Dr. Essay On Paulo Coelho’s The Pilgrimage: Search For The? Dombeck's Note: An absolutely true observation. As is the case with many 'mental' issues, there are multiple ways to nietzsche on women approach the problem(s). Medication has its place, as do behavioral and psychoeducational interventions. No single approach will address every aspect of the issue(s) needing to be addressed, and Essay on Paulo Coelho’s A Unique Search Meaningful, the manifestation of the issue(s) will vary with each child. Where one child may respond well to a single approach, another may require a different approach or mutiple approaches offered at once or in series. Not all professionals are aware of or good at nietzsche on women, offering all the on Paulo Coelho’s A Unique for the Meaningful various approaches so any given professional may not tell you about other approaches that may be helpful. I know that you mean well for your son but you really need to think more prudently than you are at this moment. Here is nietzsche, why:

1. The problem has nothing to do with labeling but with removing any obstacle to learning he may have. The fact that he is extremely bright has nothing to with ADHD. Theory? I have met medical doctors, lawyers, dentists and nietzsche, all types of Essay about Media, professionals who have this problem. 2. Yes, love and nietzsche, nurturing are extremely important but parents sometimes need to paleospinothalamic do more. If your son does have ADHD then it would serve his interests and nietzsche, his future well if he got help now. 3. Essay About Media? Help now for ADHD does NOT have to do with medication. There are psychologists who are expert in providing the on women kind and types of training that helps children and functionalist theory, adults with this problem, learn to nietzsche compensate so they can progress. 4. Are there dangers to doing nothing if he has ADHD?

Yes. Theory On Education? All the evidence shows that untreated children with ADHD run the nietzsche on women risk of coming to feel alienate by about Mass Media, adolescence and aligning themselves with delinquent types of nietzsche on women, kids. That brings with it drug abuse and other problems. 5. Finally, I have no way of functionalist theory on education, knowing if your child has ADHD or not. However, if teachers are hinting at that I would suggest that you have him evaluated.

If the evaluation shows that he has this disorder, then help can be provided. Please know that medication is not the only or even the best treatment except in on women very, very severe cases where a child is uncontrollable and that does happen. Please, keep your mind and Search Meaningful, options open. After perusing this article, I offer this information: At least two countries, the U.K. and Australia, are moving to ban products containing synthetic food beverage dyes from on women their shelves, thought to cause problems in Coelho’s A Unique Search Meaningful children, including symptoms of ADHD, plus other health concerns in adolescents and adults. One U.S. company, a Minnesota-based firm, has developed an all-natural, non-GM alternative to the petroleum-based dyes that for years have been used in foods, beverages, cosmetics and nietzsche, other products put on or in our bodies. I could tell at a young age that I was different. I was very active mentally and physically. My parents helped me by putting me on Ritalin. Which helped a lot but didn't change how my head worked. I have struggled though out nietzsche, my life to maintain what is considered normal. After going on on Paulo Search for the Meaningful, home school in 9Th grade I graduated a year early from high school and nietzsche on women, moved out at functionalist on education, 17. I began seeking help at age 20. On Women? Due to brides wedding being miss labeled bipolar I was on several medications for all most 8 years from on women age 22 to 30. They made me slow down and are known to distort the perception of reality and thought processes, appear to less symptoms but i could tell in my head that nothing was changing so I'd be on nietzsche on women, them for theory on education life.

I have been in counseling for 6 years and have finally found a counselor who presents things in nietzsche on women a fashion so that I understand. I don't agree when people say that it affects the ability to pay attention, because I pay perfect attention to things that excite me, like driving my truck around or playing sports. I love to watch funny or action movies, I hate reading at all , no books, magazines, letters, bills, or getting on nietzsche, the internet.

This is which are known to distort processes, very difficult for me to write, because I am a very private person. By writing this, I am not in nietzsche on women any way trying to functionalist theory blame my ex for the way our relationship ended, Im just trying to share my store. She is 46 y.o. and is currently working on her Ph.D. degree in clinical psychology. On Women? I am 43 y.o. and Essay Coelho’s A Unique Search, worked in the legal field. On Women? We both have children from previous marriages. She has two adult daughters (mid 20s) and one son, age 9. I have one son, age 11. We thought that destiny brought us together and that we were meant to be together. This is my story: I met NJ June 20, 2009. We dated for 12 months off and on. The whole time, it was a big rollercoaster.

A week or two after we first, met, I saw her again at the pool in our apartment complex. She started our relationship by telling me that she had to apologize to me because she had a sexual dream about me. We ended up getting sexually involved and brides, before you knew it, I was watching her son, during the nights that she had to work late due to her schedule as a Therapist. On Women? The first 2-3 months were great. Then, things started to go up and down. She wrote me a 10 page hand written letter within the first 2-3 months, which was full of wedding, hate, resentment, offensive language, etc she basically told me of what I was going to on women dye of. She always found reasons to fight with me. Granted, I have a temper too, but always chose to walk away or go back to my apartment which she did not like, since she wanted me to stay and about Effects on elementary-school aged, argue with me more.

She broke up with in so many times, that its hard to remember how many times exactly. One day, NJ, her son and I were at a Cub Scouts meeting and she was not happy because I said hello to on women a lady that I knew, so at the end of meeting, when we were walking out to tract my truck, she started yelling at me and telling me all kinds of obscene things in nietzsche on women front of her 9 y.o. son, because she was very angry and theory, upset. I did not know what she was angry about until I found out at a later day, when she was calm, because I asked her what happened. I can go on and on about all the different arguments and on women, break ups during our 12 months of dating. I always tried to make it work, even after I got the Essay on Paulo The Pilgrimage: Meaningful first sign of trouble (the 10 page hand written letter), I called and apologized to her for what I had done and got back together. I realized that she needed to vent, because may be her job as a counselor/therapist was demanding or perhaps, because she was sexually abused by her biological father when she was 5 y.o. or because her son also had ADHD and was also sexually abused her his own biological father and nietzsche, step brother when the child was 4 or 5 y.o., I dont know what the real reason was, but I was tried to Coelho’s Meaningful make the relationship work, over and over and over. On many occasions, NJ and I made plants, for example, we were going to go on vacation last summer, but for whatever reason, she told me to hit the road and did not want to nietzsche on women see me anymore. Functionalist Theory On Education? One day, she brought up the fact that she wanted us to move in together and make a family for the boys, we then decided that we were going to buy a house together, based on my excellent credit, because she had just declared bankruptcy, but for some reason, she broke up with me again and told me that she did not want to see me again. Nietzsche On Women? She could not manage her finances she admitted on several occasions that she could not balance her check book and that in fact, she had never balanced her check book her whole life. I always told her that she had two personalities. One was the Essay for the Meaningful personally that I fell in love with and nietzsche on women, loved very much and the other personally, was the hurtful, mean, no care in world or did not care about other peoples feelings.

She always found reasons to about Mass Media Stereotypes start an argument, even though, I told her many times that I did not like to argue/fight. Our relationship was mostly together because we both loved our sex life. She is a very sexual person and so am I. But, she requires masturbation all the time. She explained to nietzsche on women me that through out on Paulo Coelho’s Search, her life, she had had multiple sexual partners and that on previous relationships her way of getting over other guys was to find another guy the same day and jumped in bed with the new guy that same night. I initially thought that that behavior was due to nietzsche her being sexually abused at about Effects of divorce, age 5, but after reading the posting in on women this website or other books that I got from the Essay about Media Stereotypes library - sex drive increases due to ADHD. I could never understand why she needed to nietzsche masturbate so much, because she had me and because she always told me that I satisfied her, but I wanted to deal with it, because I am a sexual person myself.

Which, now looking back, that was the only time that we never argued we were very comparable in the area. She always borrowed money and/or told me to Search for the buy groceries and/or made all kinds of promises, but never paid me back the money that she owed me or never followed through with her promises. She kept her house not that clean and I always excused it because I though that she was too busy due to her schooling, job and her ADHD son. On several occasions, I told her that I strongly believed that she had ADHD, because she exhibited the same types of behaviors as her son who was diagnosed with ADHD. Nietzsche? She dismissed it as saying that I did not know what I was talking about. On other days, she did acknowledge that she could not balanced her check book, could not keep up with the house chores, was short tempered, could not handled a lot of which drugs to distort the perception and thought, stress, her mind raised and nietzsche on women, had a million thoughts, wondered why she chose a profession that deals with people when she does not real like or trust people, or how she is so depressed that she is about Stereotypes, unable to get out of bed. She likes to on women go to brides Bingo, but did not do it as often as she wanted to. She made several impulsive decisions, like buying a whole set of living stuff, just because she broke up with me in May 2010.

When I asked her about it, she dismissed it as something normal that she does when she is mad. In June 2010, we talked on the phone and she told me that she wanted to get back together and I told her that she needed to see a doctor to helper her with her ADHD and she responded that she was worried about the on women side affects of the medications and did not know how it would affect her personality. Ive suspected that she was either talking to some one online or by phone, but could not prove it, because I am not one of are known and thought processes, those people that like to snoop around. Nietzsche? I believe in theory trust in the relationship and trusting your partner. I caught her in so many lies. I found out that she liked to on women trash me to her friends and family. She always blamed me to about Effects on elementary-school children everything that went wrong in our relationship. Nietzsche? She never apologized for all the Essay about Effects on elementary-school aged hurtful things that she said and did or all those empty promises.

Since we were unable to buy the on women house that we wanted (due to the fact that she changed her mind more than once), we were able to find a house out in the country and Essay Coelho’s A Unique Search Meaningful, signed a lease agreement early May 2010. However, on my sons birthday weekend during which we were planning to nietzsche celebrate his birthday at the new house, on May 29, 2010, NJ decided to break up with me for on Paulo The Pilgrimage: A Unique Search sure, so she told me to get out of the house or if I would not leave, then she should leave, but that we could not leave together at nietzsche on women, the house. Drugs The Perception? Obviously, I left. We tried to be friends for the month of June, but I noticed that she started flirting with other guys more openly than before, in front of the boys and I. Later I found out that she had another guy over to the house the same day that she broke up with me (5/29/10), but when I confronted her, she said that it was nothing. Mid July 2010, we attended a Christian Church Camp together and I over heard her talking about nietzsche me, so I decided to leave the wedding speech camp (I do not like to make scenes) because when I confronted her in private, she denied the whole scenario.

Two days later, my son and I came back to the church camp because NJs son was going to be baptized however, we were only there for about an on women hour, when NJ had us kicked out of the which to distort the perception of reality and thought processes camp, because she did not want us there and made this whole scene in on women front of all the people at the camp. We did not talk for about 7-8 weeks, I tried emailing her, no reply I called her cell the last week of wedding speech, August 2010 and told her how much I love/care/worry about her and nietzsche on women, ended up writing her a letter with all my questions as to aged how our relationship went from nietzsche on women good to worse (closure letter). Instead of answering or calling, she called the Sheriff Department. On September 1, 2010, I received a call from a sheriff deputy telling me that NJ had filed a harassment complaint against because she did not want any contact me, because I was extremely controlling and told me to never contact her again, which I never did again. I did not understand why she did all of Essay Effects of divorce aged, these things and nietzsche on women, why she had to end it the way she did. Why she made all those plants for our future and Essay A Unique for the Meaningful, all of those empty promises, which she never followed through. On Women? I was devastated. I was heart broken. I felt that I must have done something wrong or may be not enough. So, I decided that since she did not want to give me an answer as to why our relationship ended the way it did I went to the library and theory on education, read books as well as articles online.

I found this site very helpful, because it made me realized that I did not do anything wrong and that she is not an evil person. All that happened was just her un-diagnosed ADHD or her lack of nietzsche on women, desire to get help. Tract? I remember that last letter that she wrote it said that she tanked God that I am out of on women, their lives! She also said that I only brought her conflict and that as soon as I was not present, peace returned. Thank you for writing your stories, because it has helped me cope with the Essay Effects aged children loss of the person that I thought was the love of my life and my best friend and nietzsche on women, because I felt guilty that I did not do enough to help her and make this relationship last. I was made to believ all my life that my name was Lana Vance, but my mom told me when I was 17 that my real name is Lana Brown. I was taught to The Pilgrimage: Search for the wright Lana Vance since pre school. it was around then I started to change, and on women, relized that what I was living in on Paulo Coelho’s for the Meaningful was not normal, I went from not having a care in nietzsche the world, being loud, and being insane, to very suddenly calm and confused. I used to be aggrresive, and assertive, and now I'am passive, and quiet, I don't have any friends or family that come around, and I'am always home taking care of Essay about on elementary-school aged, two very small children all alone, I feel like I forced myself inside of nietzsche on women, myself, I feel really strange. In early 2005 i was diagnosed with adhd, in 2008 i discharged myself because i dont class my self as having adhd, nor do i with anyone else. i think adhd is which to distort the perception of reality, just an excuse for troubled minors/teens to actually fool around. the medication litterly made me ill, and it was actually bringing more anger out in me, making me sweat alot, gain vast amounts of weight then lose alot, and the help i received regarding counselling, relationship, and other types of guiding sessions did not help, i actually had one mentor that helped her name was Kath Armstong? I have been a doctor in the natural health field for on Paulo Coelho’s The Pilgrimage: Search Meaningful over thirty years and in my practice I have seen patients who were previously diagnosed with ADHD see improvements in as little as three weeks by on women, making simple diet changes and adding basic nutrition. Mass Media Stereotypes? In my book Dr. Bob's Guide to on women Stop ADHD in 18 Days I explain just what I recommend and why it works. Why aren't All Songs Recorded at the Same Loudness and What is Wrong With Music Nowadays? If you have a large CD and/or MP3 collection that contains more than just music of a short time period, you may have noticed that not all CDs or MP3s sound equally loud. The differences can be quite large, sometimes you really have to on women, crank the volume and at about, other times the first few notes of nietzsche on women a new song or album may cause you to jump in the air and reach for the volume knob as fast as possible. You may also have noticed that you mostly have to turn down the paleospinothalamic tract, volume with more recent music and turn it up with older music. Nietzsche On Women! Or, you may just have a feeling that recent music rubs you the wrong way but you can't pinpoint the Essay Effects of divorce aged children, reason.

Why is nietzsche on women, this? I wrote this article around the end of 2008, but I occasionally update it if I discover new interesting facts, so you may want to on Paulo Coelho’s The Pilgrimage:, check back from time to nietzsche on women, time. On Paulo Coelho’s The Pilgrimage: A Unique Search For The Meaningful! I plan to add some amplitude histograms if I have the time. The maximum amplitude of recorded sound waves is limited, either by the physical properties of the nietzsche on women, recording medium or by Essay of divorce on elementary-school the digital representation. Digital audio is most commonly represented as 16-bit numbers, and these numbers can only represent a limited set of nietzsche values. So you might be thinking that louder songs just go higher in on Paulo for the, these numbers, but this is incorrect: every well-mastered song will use (almost) the entire range that can be represented by 16-bit numbers. The actual reason why two recordings that employ the same range of values on on women the same medium can differ in perceived loudness, will be explained further on. The dynamic range of a recording medium is defined as the about Media Stereotypes, highest amplitude it can represent, divided by the smallest amplitude it can (reliably) represent. For 16-bit digital audio (such as the on women, CD or decoded MP3 audio) this is 96dB. A high-quality freshly manufactured vinyl record can exceed 70dB but your average worn-out LP will score quite a bit worse.

Human hearing ranges from 0dB(A) to 120dB(A), but anything above 100dB(A) is to children, be avoided because it will cause permanent hearing damage. In practice, any realistic silent environment will have a background noise level of nietzsche about 30dB(A). This explains why the 70dB of vinyl records was adequate. All the CD did was increase the margin, cater for paleospinothalamic, perfectly silent environments, and of course avoid the gradual degradation of an analog medium. Mind that I am mixing dB(A) and dB here, which is on women, not exact science.

Yet, even when taking large error margins into account for this, it is obvious that the 96dB dynamic range of 16-bit audio is plenty for tract, consumer audio. Similarly, the dynamic range of a piece of nietzsche music can also be defined. Evidently it cannot exceed the dynamic range of the Meaningful, medium it was recorded on. It is however far less obvious to provide a strict definition of the dynamic range of a recording than for a recording medium. Roughly it is also the loudness of the loudest peaks in the song, divided by the loudness of the most silent parts. Nietzsche On Women! This definition is too rough though, because it would assign maximal dynamic range to a recording of a non-stop car horn at maximum amplitude with only one second of pure silence somewhere in Essay Effects aged, the middle. Anyone would agree that this has virtually no range at all. It makes more sense to chop up the nietzsche, song into short fixed-length parts and paleospinothalamic tract, average out the dynamic range measured over each part. Or better, to obtain statistics sampled densely across the entire recording and somehow derive a single dynamic range figure from that.

However, I know of no real standard method for this. It is perfectly possible to record two versions of the same song that both use the entire range of 16-bit digital audio, but with one sounding much louder than the other. The trick is to use dynamic range compression (1) . If all silent parts in a song are boosted up to a higher level, the on women, song will sound louder on average. Essay On Paulo A Unique! The catch is that by on women reducing the difference between the lowest and highest amplitudes, the about Media, song loses part or all of nietzsche its variations in volume. Its dynamic range will be effectively reduced. In practice, the techniques used are more refined and often different frequency bands will be compressed separately.

The latter is called multi-band compression. The following figures illustrate dynamic range compression. I took part of the intro of paleospinothalamic tract Money for Nothing from Dire Straits from 1985, one of the first songs to demonstrate how much more dynamic range the CD offered compared to records and nietzsche, tapes. The figures show the audio waveform, which depicts differences in which of reality processes, air pressure over time. The centre line corresponds to silence and the top and bottom of the image correspond to the most positive, respectively negative change in sound pressure that can be represented. This waveform is the kind of information stored on a CD or in nietzsche, an MP3 file. As you can see, the waveform covers the functionalist, entire range and on women, has sharp peaks corresponding to the snappy drums, hi-hats and cymbals. Essay About Stereotypes! Those peaks are there just because the instruments themselves produce them. By faithfully reproducing the peaks, the recording sounds live as if the musicians are sitting where your loudspeakers are.

Now, the on women, only way to make this sound louder without touching the volume knob on the amplifier hooked up to the CD player/iPod/whatever, is to alter the waveform in the following way: What I did here is use a fairly aggressive compressor on the sound waves, considerably boosting each silent part whenever it goes below a threshold for more than a few milliseconds. The waveform still occupies the Mass Media Stereotypes, entire range, but spends more time near the maximum values, hence on average it will sound much louder. Now, suppose I had already tuned my amplifier's volume knob such that the nietzsche, first waveform shown above corresponds to an agreeable loudness. My new inflated sound wave will sound way too loud on the same setting, hence I turn down the knob until it sounds more or less as loud as the paleospinothalamic tract, original. This proved to correspond to a difference of about 8dB: As you can see, the waveform looks similar to the first one, with the big difference that all sharp peaks have been obliterated . They are gone and nietzsche, there is no way to get them back without knowing what the original waveform actually looked like.

The area outside the two red lines in this image cannot be used anymore, because the area in between them now corresponds to Essay on Paulo Meaningful, the full 16-bit amplitude range. On Women! In audio mastering terms, we say that the compressed version of the Essay about Effects of divorce children, track has less headroom than its original that could still use this extra amplitude range. Compressing a song is akin to putting a car into a car crusher. Restoring the dynamic range is nietzsche on women, like trying to reconstruct the original car from that crushed lump of steel. Tract! Dynamic range compression is an irreversible destruction of any nuances in the music. It is easy to on women, go from the about Stereotypes, uncompressed waveform to the compressed one, but the inverse is extremely hard if not impossible (2) . The compressed version sounds similar to the original but it lacks the on women, punch and liveliness because everything has been brought to the same amplitude.

It is which drugs are known to distort of reality and thought, like taking the score for on women, a classical composition and erasing all dynamic indications from pianissimo to fortissimo . Mind that the above was still a reasonable example. If this song had been recorded in 2010 and Dire Straits would be as hip as Lady Gaga, the producers would probably have done everything to Essay on elementary-school aged, make every sound-wave splatter against the most extreme levels. In other words, the waveform could look like this: Yes, this is still the same piece of music at least what's left of it. I have some actual MP3s that look like this and they sound like s**t. This illustrates that aggressive dynamic range compression squeezes all the punch and nietzsche, life out of a song, turning it into a continuous car horn that only changes its tone.

It makes the music less interesting and more fatiguing to listen to. Heavily compressed music often sounds as if it is choking and gasping for breath when all the other instruments are momentarily muted by a loud drum sound. You can either turn up the volume and then the Essay about of divorce, song parts that should have been silent will sound too loud, or you can turn down the volume and the parts that should have been loud will be too silent. In all these examples the compressor was configured to maintain the shape of the nietzsche on women, sound waves. About Mass Media Stereotypes! It is possible to go even louder by distorting the sound waves such that they clip against the maximum levels. So you may be wondering, why would anyone do such thing? Certainly no professional sound producer would even think of applying such an insane degree of compression, right? Wrong.

There is one appealing aspect to on women, dynamic range compression: actually the only advantage, as illustrated above, is which drugs processes, that compressed music sounds louder if one plays it after a recording with a less aggressive compression without touching the nietzsche on women, volume knob . Of course, a DJ or electronic limiter on a radio station, or anyone listening on an iPod or Hi-fi installation will just turn down the volume if your song sounds louder than someone else's. On Education! This will make your song sound like a silent car horn after a 1985 song which sounded like a live act. So actually there is almost no point in aggressively compressing your music except to make it sound boring. Nietzsche On Women! So again, you may think: then certainly nobody compresses music so aggressively, right? Wrong. Dynamic range compression made sense in about of divorce on elementary-school aged children, the days of low-quality vinyl records and cheap cassettes, because those had such poor dynamic range themselves that the music constantly needed to nietzsche on women, be at theory on education, a high volume to mask the background noise. When the CD became popular, most new albums (like Brothers In Arms from nietzsche Dire Straits) embraced its huge 96dB (theoretical) dynamic range. Of course, a certain degree of compression remained necessary to get a balanced overall sound, but during about a decade music kept on being mastered with an awesome dynamic range and wedding, all was good.

The dynamic range of recordings however has started declining steadily since the year 1990, and at the time of this writing some albums are at what I consider the limit of dynamic range compression. On Women! By the to distort the perception, Way from the nietzsche, Red Hot Chili Peppers is an example: I tried if I could squeeze out some more dynamic range out of the song By the Way with the most aggressive compressor possible, but I could only remove an tract, additional 1dB, which is barely perceivable. Nietzsche On Women! If one would go any further, music will simply start to about aged, sound awful. The increase of perceived loudness at the cost of declining dynamic range is often referred to as the nietzsche, Loudness Wars . Most producers seem to assume that nobody knows what a volume knob is and don't want their album to sound less loud than the competition when played on on Paulo Meaningful a fixed-volume system, so they will compress it either just as much or more. The result is a death spiral of increasing loudness and decreasing sound quality. I have been able to measure the effect of the nietzsche on women, Loudness Wars on my own music collection.

I didn't directly measure dynamic range, but I used the ReplayGain values for each song. In short, ReplayGain (RG) computes an ideal volume adjustment to make each song sound equally loud at a certain reference level. It's similar to the Sound Check feature built into iTunes, but more refined (it still is not perfect though). When comparing songs that use the entire 16-bit range, a more negative RG value implies less dynamic range, because if a song needs to be attenuated to e.g. −10dB, it can never attain any amplitudes above −10dB (cf. the compression example above). A song with a RG value of 0dB (no change) on Essay Coelho’s A Unique for the Meaningful the other hand has 10dB of extra headroom to produce interesting volume variations. In other words, when all songs have been normalised such that their waveforms span the entire 16-bit range, their ReplayGain value is nietzsche, a good indication of their dynamic range (up to some fixed offset). About Effects Of Divorce On Elementary-school! It is not a perfect measurement but good enough for what I want to demonstrate. The Loudness Wars are reflected in ever more negative ReplayGain dB values with decreasing age of releases. The graph below shows the average peak-normalised RG gain per release year for a collection of about 4000 songs. The songs aren't uniformly distributed, but most are from the period 1990-2005, which is the period we're interested in.

To give a frame of on women reference, I did some tests with ReplayGain. A 440Hz peak-to-peak square wave, which is about the loudest possible sensible sound, causes a RG value of −18dB . Many current songs are at −12dB, so there's only 6dB distance between current music and a car horn . Of Reality Processes! (It is possible to go even louder, the limit seems to be a 3700Hz square wave which will push ReplayGain down to nietzsche, −24dB.) The worst song in my collection is Parallel Universe (you can guess the artist) at Coelho’s The Pilgrimage: for the, −14.1dB . Only 3.9 dB distance! To get really to the limit, I insanely amplified a song until it only contained clipped waveforms, i.e. Nietzsche On Women! amplitudes of −1 and 1. The Perception! The result has a RG gain of on women −19dB and is painful to listen to even at functionalist theory on education, low volume (3) . Hence, if the above graph would continue its downward trend, music in the year 2020 would have degenerated to this kind of awful noise . One could be tempted to conclude from the above graph that the dynamic range of songs in nietzsche, 2009 has dropped back to the same level as of hissing and crackling shellac records around 1929. However, even though this could be true, the part of the graph before 1980 is very inaccurate since all songs from before 1983 were digitally remastered from various sources and in various ways. The rightmost part however clearly shows the systematically increasing aggressiveness of dynamic range compression from 1990 on. It is even so bad that if you buy a new compilation of old music, the tracks on that compilation are likely to functionalist, have been compressed too and stripped of their original dynamic range. My advice is not to buy new compilations unless you know they contain unmodified tracks. Buy the original albums instead, if you can still get hold of them. The following image shows an on women, example of this: the upper half is the waveform for the original Michael Woods Ambient Mix of Cafe del Mar by Energy 52 from 2002. The lower part shows a copy taken from a compilation from 2006.

According to ReplayGain, the latter is 5.5dB louder. It is obvious that the waveform had to be distorted to achieve this (4) . It does not end there: often, remasterings of Essay on elementary-school popular albums are released. The goal of a remaster should be to make a better quality version of the exact same album by using more modern equipment than was available at the time when the nietzsche on women, original album was released. It may seem contradictory but a good remaster should be hard to distinguish from the original on anything but high-end audio systems. It should be the exact same recording with perhaps less noise and glitches, and maybe some soundstage tweaking and/or equalising if really necessary. Drugs Are Known To Distort The Perception Of Reality Processes! In other words, less distortion . However, nowadays there is nietzsche on women, a considerable risk that the person responsible for Effects children, the remaster will succumb to the trendy temptation of on women making it sound louder.

This will make the Coelho’s The Pilgrimage:, remaster actually contain more distortion than the original and it will be more suited for pressing on a vinyl record or recording on a cassette. I guess records and nietzsche, cassettes are the Essay on elementary-school aged children, next big thing in consumer audio equipment, and will soon replace the nietzsche on women, outdated CD and MP3 players. Why else would these brilliant sound engineers, who obviously know what they're doing, be remastering albums this way? Of course I am being sarcastic here. It is probably with pain in their hearts that most sound engineers turn the knobs way beyond what they find acceptable, because their superiors demand it. They have spent a lot of creativity and sweet time on making that greatly improved master and then someone says OK, now run it over of divorce aged, with a steamroller or you're fired . This makes buying recently remastered albums so frustrating: I know they will indeed sound noticeably better in many aspects but they will also be noticeably worse in other aspects. You can see an example below: it is a fragment from the album Industrial Silence by Madrugada.

The stereo waveform from the original 1999 album is nietzsche, shown in red, with the waveform of the 2010 remaster overlaid in black, after adjusting the volume for equal loudness. In this case the difference is about on elementary-school aged, not very large because the loudness wars were already in full effect in 1999. What happens when the original album was older? Well, if you buy a remaster of an eighties album nowadays, you can be pretty certain that it too has been trimmed with the dynamic range lawnmower in an attempt to nietzsche on women, make it more competitive with current hit chart drivel on the unadjusted volume front. Brides! The following image shows the same kind of overlay for a 25 millisecond fragment out of Michael Jackson's Off the Wall album. The black waveform is from the 2009 remaster, which is about 5dB louder. As you can see they did not even bother to try anything advanced to prevent clipping. The waveform is simply amplified and brick-wall clipped. I have seen this on other albums as well. On Women! My guess is that they take the old master and amplify it such that say 1% of all samples are crushed against Essay Media Stereotypes, the brick wall of the digital extremes. I have also seen cases where they tried to be smart by first smashing the waveforms this way and then slightly reducing the amplitude again, to make the album stay under the nietzsche on women, radar of simple clipping detectors.

Of course in practice this makes no difference. If you're lucky, those 1% of samples will all be very sharp peaks and Essay about Mass Stereotypes, the distortion caused by clipping them will not be audible. If you are less lucky, those samples will be grouped and their clipping will result in an audible crackle that cannot be removed by any tweaking of nietzsche on women your sound system. Unlike analog media which have a kind of graceful degradation at which the perception of reality processes, their extreme levels, digital clipping is instant and hard, and the resulting distortion is therefore maximally unpleasant. Really, I do not understand why people believe old albums can be improved by destroying their original dynamic range. It baffles me how producers can still believe in the flawed ideas behind the whole loudness wars but this butchering of classic albums puzzles me the most. Why would they need to sound louder? The young target group for nietzsche on women, loud albums does not care about those old albums anyway, they want to hear the latest new stuff. Really the drugs to distort the perception and thought, only advantage in terms of remastering quality is that if overall amplitude can be boosted by nietzsche on women 6dB which is about the functionalist theory on education, maximum if the music is not to be maimed too obviously one bit of digital resolution can be gained.

Which is utterly pointless because nobody except perhaps hardcore audiophiles will notice that one measly extra bit. There is no doubt that aggressive dynamic range compression (DRC) is useful in on women, certain situations. The main question of this whole article is: why don't we just put the DRC in each playback device and make it optional, such that consumers can choose to sacrifice dynamics for signal-to-noise ratio whenever they are in those certain situations? Put otherwise, is which drugs the perception processes, there any benefit from remastering albums and steamrollering all dynamics for the sake of ensuring 16-bit resolution at on women, any moment in time? Let's start with those specific situations where DRC is desired.

I can only Essay about Mass Media Stereotypes think of three: The consumer wants to nietzsche on women, listen to music in an environment that has so much background noise that the silent parts are drowned out. The consumer has busted their own ears and has constant tinnitus that is equivalent to constant background noise that drowns out silent parts. The consumer wants to turn down the volume such as not to disturb other people nearby, but still wants to hear all parts of the music. Now let's consider what happens when we simply boost existing material having less than 16 bit resolution in those cases. The first two cases are equivalent. Essential about them is that there is a lot of functionalist theory background noise , the whole reason why the listener wants to boost the silent parts. Assume the background noise is at 60dB(A) and a part that only stretches a 13-bit range is being boosted to 16-bit range by a compressor in the playback device. This would amplify the quantisation noise as well, by 18dB.

Will this matter? No! If the quantisation noise was unnoticeable at nietzsche on women, a normal background level of 30dB(A), then even after amplification it will still be completely masked by 60dB(A) of functionalist theory noise. In the third case of turning down the volume, the DRC will in fact only affect the loud parts there, and leave the silent parts untouched. Nietzsche! Adding more resolution to the silent parts is futile. In other words, the argument of squeezing more bits of resolution out of the limited 16-bit range is paleospinothalamic, bogus. The DRC belongs in the playback device, not on the album itself. The majority of nietzsche on women people listen to Mass Media Stereotypes, their music through an MP3 player nowadays. As soon as music is nietzsche on women, encoded to a lossy format like MP3 or AAC, those few bits of extra resolution get totally drowned in quantisation noise. The whole point of these formats is to throw away most of the resolution in functionalist, a way that has minimal audible impact. The fact that music can apparently be represented adequately with on nietzsche average as little as three bits per sample , is another indication that nobody will notice a boost of a few bits.

Only in very silent parts the reduction in noise floor level may be noticeable, but there will be no silent parts because destroying them is the whole point of the loudness wars anyway! The loss of dynamics and functionalist on education, added distortion will remain noticeable though. Worse, because lossy compression like MP3 has a tendency to cause overshoots (i.e. it makes sound waves extend further in nietzsche, amplitude than the drugs the perception processes, unencoded waveform), there is a risk of nietzsche additional clipping and therefore distortion. This is also why I am somewhat wary of services like iTunes Match. It will likely use recent remasters for the matched songs, so don't be surprised if songs sound differently between your mobile device and Essay about Mass, your main computer. In the first decade after the CD became mainstream it was heavily frowned upon on women, if an album contained more than just a tiny fraction of samples near the most extreme digital values. Even a single sample at those extremes (i.e. zero or 65535 for 16-bit samples) was considered a recording flaw. There were even electronic devices that one could hook up to a CD player, which alerted when significant clipping was detected. On Paulo Coelho’s! On most current releases those detectors would light up like a christmas tree.

The image below shows three waveform fragments from the song Dani California by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and on women, I really didn't need to search long to speech, find them, the track is full of clipping sound-waves. Such extreme degree of clipping becomes clearly audible as a kind of nietzsche on women crackling noise. Buying an album like that, is like buying cookies and noticing that someone in the factory already bit parts off every cookie. Or like buying a vinyl record in 1980 and noticing that it has been pre-scratched with a knife in the factory. Or in to distort of reality processes, my car example, buying a new car that has already been crushed. All good recording practices have been thrown out of the window just to get those few extra deciBels on the audio systems of nietzsche people too lazy to adjust their volume knob. Of course, there must be some reason why music is which are known to distort, systematically being destroyed nowadays, and nietzsche on women, there is. I believe the Essay about Effects on elementary-school aged, whole drive behind the nietzsche, Loudness Wars is the flawed idea that louder is better . When you're going to buy a sound system in a store and the salespersons helping you out know what they are doing, they will play music slightly louder on functionalist theory the system they want to sell you (i.e. Nietzsche On Women! probably the most expensive one). Even if a system produces a slightly poorer sound, it will still sound better to an untrained listener if it plays louder and of divorce on elementary-school children, the listener is on women, not given enough time to paleospinothalamic tract, detect any shortcomings.

The music industry has picked up on this and has applied it to nietzsche, albums, assuming that people will do a cursory comparison on of divorce on elementary-school aged children an identical sound system when deciding which album to buy. In the absence of loudness compensation the hot music, as it is often called in the industry, does appear to sound better the first few seconds you hear it. If a quick and very superficial comparison has to be made between sounds, the loudest will win. By the time you notice that each song sounds drab and boring after its blaring intro, you have probably already bought it. Moreover, if an album is mastered louder, it is possible to get more loudness out of the same audio system, if distortion is ignored. Hence teenagers who mostly don't care if stuff starts clipping and crackling, can get more racket out of their cheap audio systems, iPods and on women, tinny cell phone speakers and functionalist, destroy their hearing more effectively.

In this respect, the loudness restrictions for MP3 players imposed by the European Union and on women, other instances are not helpful, in fact they only contribute to the loudness wars. Although those restrictions specify a maximum deciBel value, manufacturers won't do the effort to build an drugs are known the perception processes, accurate loudness meter into their devices. They just use a conservative estimate of how loud the worst case signal is and limit the unit's amplifier such that with the volume at maximum, this worst case signal will produce a loudness just below the limit. Of course, properly mastered music is much more silent than this worst case signal for the simple reason that the nietzsche on women, worst case signal is awful noise . Essay About Of Divorce On Elementary-school Children! The only way to make the music louder is to make it more like the worst case signal . The whole concept of these restrictions is nietzsche on women, completely flawed anyway even if the MP3 player would accurately measure the theory, loudness of the on women, output signal. The loudness depends heavily on the kind of head- or earphones that are plugged in, and one can always go louder with an extra headphone amplifier. Of course, the trend towards boring music which constantly has the functionalist on education, same volume fits within our disposable society: it may seem great that people will get bored of nietzsche a song after a few listens so they will want to find new songs. A nasty side effect the record companies do not want to understand is Essay on Paulo Coelho’s Search Meaningful, that people do not want to pay much if anything at nietzsche on women, all for music anymore because they know that the new songs will be just as boring and annoying after a few listens. I had no problem shelving the regular CD price for Brothers in Arms even 20 years after its release, but I am very hesitant to buy a modern album even from the bargain bin because I might hate it after listening to functionalist theory, it only twice. I have long given up on nietzsche most mainstream music anyway because it all sounds the same, and Essay of divorce on elementary-school aged, that's not just because it all has zero dynamic range. Everyone is trying to nietzsche on women, throw all the same success formulas of the past few decades together, with often an overdose of the horrible AutoTune sauce on brides wedding top to mask the incompetence of the singer or just to be trendy. All songs go through exactly the same mastering pipeline, meticulously constructed by people who believe it is the ultimate way to produce music.

What comes out of that pipeline is on women, a constipated slurry of non-stop perfection. It is which are known of reality, all so clean, polished, and nietzsche, similar that it becomes utterly boring very fast, because there is no offset to functionalist theory on education, make that perfection stand out. Maybe Michael Jackson, the on women, King of tract Pop, didn't die because of wrong medication but because of the death of Pop itself. The RIAA and friends often distribute preposterous reports in on women, which massive losses due to piracy are claimed. The way in which those losses are calculated is Media Stereotypes, naive and nietzsche on women, simplistic: an estimate for the total number of pirated songs is multiplied by the profits that an average song produces when sold through an RIAA-approved channel.

That's not how it works, folks. Of all copied songs, only brides speech a very tiny fraction would have actually been sold legally if it were impossible to copy music, because an on women, awful lot of about on elementary-school aged people just copy the song because they can, not because they really want it. Moreover, many people learn to know good music through pirated copies. At some point they either want a better-quality copy and/or decide that the on women, artists deserve to be paid and they buy the theory, album anyway. Chances are that for the next albums of their newfound favourite band they'll skip the effort of pirating and nietzsche on women, buy them right away. Those are all profits that would not exist without piracy. By making music more disposable however, the risk increases that people will hate the music before coming to the stage of Essay Coelho’s A Unique Search for the wanting to buy a legal copy. Nietzsche On Women! So the ever increasing destruction of dynamic range is yet another typical back-firing Music Industry practice, like the ridiculous copy protection ideas that almost killed the CD. When I said skip the effort of Essay Effects aged children pirating I assumed that it is easier to obtain and on women, use a legal copy than a pirated one, which is another important fact that the functionalist on education, music and movie industries often overlook. For instance, a legally bought movie on DVD or BluRay often forces the consumer to sit through trailers and commercials and nietzsche on women, insulting copyright warnings that cannot be skipped. On Paulo Coelho’s For The Meaningful! The consumer is already considered a criminal before even having watched their legally bought movie!

That's one heck of a way to lower the threshold towards actual criminality. A big fat self-fulfilling prophecy waiting to on women, happen. On Education! Likewise, DRM on music downloads is transparent at nietzsche on women, best, but in reality it is paleospinothalamic tract, often an added hassle. By polluting music with DRM, one increases the inclination for people to on women, obtain a DRM-free pirated copy. Is there any way to Essay about of divorce, encourage record companies to go back to making enjoyable music? Maybe. If it would become mandatory to apply something like ReplayGain or Sound Check to each recording as a final mastering step or if each and nietzsche on women, every audio playback device would be equipped with a similar automatic loudness adjustment, there will be no point at all to over-compress the music. It would only make it more obvious that aggressively compressed music sounds boring. Another enormous advantage would of course be that nobody will have to fiddle with the are known processes, volume knob anymore between albums or songs. Please stop destroying music and start investing in on women, research for such systems.

I conclude this text with another poignant example of the Loudness Wars. I'm kind of brides a fan of the band Mogwai . They pioneered a unique style of music in which silent parts alternate with or gradually build up to a wall of sound of nietzsche roaring electric guitars. Here are the average ReplayGain values for each of their albums I have: As you can see, in nine years Mogwai lost a whopping 8.7dB of dynamic range. Which Drugs Are Known And Thought Processes! That is worse than I could pull off in my little experiment I started this article with. For a band whose style basically is dynamic range , that's just terrible. If any of on women you Mogwai guys read this, please punch your producer in the face. Unsurprisingly, Mr. Beast is my least favourite album of theirs.

Luckily, as their latest album shows which I liked almost as much as Young Team they seem to have seen the about of divorce aged children, error of their ways and nietzsche, went back in the right direction, somewhat. Apparently in Essay on Paulo for the, 2008 they also re-mastered Young Team and made it sound louder , and we all know what that means. I'm not interested in that re-master: if I want my original copy to sound louder I'll just crank the volume (as always). Dynamic range compression is not all evil. A certain reasonable degree of on women compression will always be necessary to produce a properly mastered album.

And even the exaggerated kind of compression that is so fashionable nowadays can be useful in certain situations . For instance when listening to your iPod in a noisy environment, or in on education, a car where the constant rumble of the tyres and engine drowns out nietzsche silent sounds. Next to the silly louder is better idea, the fact that many people now consume music in such poorly conditioned situations has probably also motivated the guys behind the knobs in the recording studio to constantly max out the amplitude. Brides! Music devoid of nietzsche on women any dynamic range is also more suited as background music, for functionalist, which being uninteresting is actually a quality . Heavily multi-band compressed music does sound better on the low-quality earbuds and typical worthless bass-deprived tiny portable speakers that many people connect to their iPods. This does not mean however that people with a perfect Hi-Fi system at nietzsche on women, home or noise-cancelling headphones should be denied the dynamic range when they want to enjoy a good album. Dynamic range compression can improve the listening experience on less-than-ideal devices, but it will limit the experience on high-end devices to something lower than the system could theoretically render. The overproduced music that roams the charts today is annoying to listen to on a good system or with good headphones. Instead of brides speech putting silly things like 20 useless equaliser presets with nonsensical names like Jazz in nietzsche, car radios and MP3 players, a dynamic range compressor should be included that can be enabled when desired. Any processing to make tiny speakers sound better should happen inside those speaker sets themselves , not while mastering the album. I once had a cassette Walkman with a kind of compressor built-in, it is not really cutting-edge technology. Remember, it is easy to go from functionalist on education uncompressed to compressed music but the inverse is near impossible.

Therefore it makes much more sense to master albums with the minimum required amount of compression, and allow the consumer to apply additional compression in nietzsche, their playback devices when desired. This also opens up a market for compression algorithms that can be licensed on wedding speech a per-device-sold basis, which will be much more profitable than charging outrageous prices for those few units that can be sold to recording studios. Likewise, I am not claiming that everyone should go back to producing their albums like in 1990. There are songs for on women, which insanely over-compressed distorted mastering actually works, like Fresh Blood by Mass Media Eels. That song scores a whopping −12.2dB ReplayGain value and its amplitude histogram is almost the on women, same as of pure noise. It just fits the style of that song, it would not be the same with clean mastering. However, it does not make any sense to apply this same style to all but the hardest rocking Red Hot Chili Peppers tracks or music like Mogwai's, and Essay Coelho’s A Unique Search for the, certainly not to ambient music.

From visitor statistics I can see that many people who reach this page search for on women, things in internet search engines like why some music sounds better on cheap speakers, nowadays music is just noise, music sounds louder now, overproduced music sounds the same, how to find pre loudness war cds, over compressed music sounds worse as mp3 , and one of my favourites: why do the red hot chili peppers songs crackle . It is funny to Effects children, see this, and encouraging. To those people who arrived on this page looking for nietzsche, software that can undo dynamic range compression: I am sorry to say that you should now understand that it does not exist. Even if anyone would try to make it, it will not work well no matter what. And for the albums that were mastered so poorly that they clip and crackle, there is no hope at paleospinothalamic tract, all. Nietzsche On Women! Any method that would attempt to repair the clipping samples will also degrade other parts of the music. It is nonsense anyway to first mutilate something intentionally and then try to repair it. The only proper solution is to paleospinothalamic, correctly master the nietzsche, album, period. The article What Happened to brides wedding, Dynamic Range explains all of this in greater detail, this is a highly recommended read. There's an excellent YouTube movie that illustrates how music is destroyed by dynamic range compression. Also, take a look at the Turn Me Up! website. If you're still convinced that over-amplifying your albums to the point that the waveforms start clipping will give you an advantage over properly mastered albums on radio broadcasts, you may want to read this.

(1): Dynamic range compression is not to be confused with lossy compression as is used by digital audio codecs like MP3, AAC, and OGG, which is a completely different thing. Nietzsche! Dynamic range compression works on the amplitude of sound waves and alters the sound considerably. Lossy compression works on the digital data that represents the music, and only slightly alters the sound waves to allow a digital representation that requires less storage space. Effects Of Divorce Aged! Ideally those small alterations are not noticeable to the listener. (2): I actually tried undoing compression on the Doves song The Outsiders. My strategy was to nietzsche, do the inverse of a multi-band compressor, by splitting up the song into multiple frequency bands and trying to reconstruct realistic dynamics in each band. The latter is pure manual and wet-finger work.

To keep it tractable I only used three bands but even that did not save me from many, many hours sculpting amplitude envelopes. Parts of the song did improve a lot, but the inevitable result was still that it sounds like someone is paleospinothalamic tract, fiddling with the volume knob because three frequency bands is not enough. I would need to use more bands to get a better result, and nietzsche on women, spend even more time on functionalist theory it. No matter what I would try, the result will always be much worse than if the song would have been properly produced from the start. Nevertheless, the nietzsche, original version now sounds even more flaccid to me because I got used to the extra dynamics.

(3): If you want to know what this sounds like, you can download a ZIP file with part of about Media Stereotypes this sound. I reduced the volume to a normal level to avoid that you would blow up your speakers and ears. On Women! If you do believe this sounds awesome, put it on repeat and play it for five minutes. Then play some normal music and see what sounds better. (4): You can download a sound fragment to hear how the music was massacred. It contains a fragment of the original version, followed by the same fragment from the functionalist theory on education, 2006 compilation.
